El Tesoro Café is located inside Sanbusco Market Center in the heart of the Guadalupe District. This treasure, as the name El Tesoro implies, has been serving food to Santa Feans for the past ten years. Breakfast and lunch are served daily. The menus are a beautiful blend of New Mexican, Central American and American entrees; it is a local’s favorite for fresh guacamole, great green chile, pupusas, salvadorean tamales, salads and salmon tacos. The food is prepared fresh daily with items made to order.

“Perhaps you’ve stumbled across El Tesoro by chance between perusing the racks at Bodhi Bazaar and having your brows waxed at Wink, but we suggest you eat there next time on purpose. This little Salvadoran jewel (its name means “treasure,” for you spanglo-phobes) delivers some of the best Latino fare around. Try the Sanbusco burrito, a behemoth roll of juicy flank steak, cheese and chile; or their slow-cooked chicken smothered in delicately spiced mole negro and accompanied by fresh corn tortillas and pork-seasoned beans. El Tesoro also makes legendary papusas, those luscious grilled masa cakes stuffed with meat (the ones with chicharrones rule) and served with red salsa. Hankering for something sweet?
